NEW MODEL HG-600 HYSTERESIGRAPH FOR PERMANENT MAGNETS

KJS Associates/Magnetic Instrumentation, Inc. is proud to introduce the new Model HG-600 Computer-automated Magnetic Hysteresigraph for measuring the magnetization and demagnetization curves on all types of permanent magnet materials, including Alnico, hard ferrite, bonded magnets, rare-earth cobalt and Nd-Fe-B. These completely updated instruments are designed specifically for accuracy, reliability, and ease-of-use.

All standard systems have high-performance, water-cooled laboratory electromagnets (EMs), available in a variety of configurations and sizes for optimum performance in each particular installation. A water flow switch and thermal interlocks in the EM coils provide overtemperature protection. To complement the electromagnets there is a selection of low-noise, high-stability (0.05%) current regulated electronic power supplies, each with automatic and manual current/field control capability.

Each system has two high-stability fluxmeters and a digital gaussmeter, resulting in very accurate calibrations and low drift during a measurement. Fluxmeters have fully automatic drift adjustment. 16-bit A/D data collection in the fluxmeters results in measurement resolutions of approximately 1 Gauss (80 A/m) and 1 Oersted (0.1 mT) for B and H respectively, the best resolution currently available in the market. Internal system communication is via IEEE-488 and RS-232 interfaces.

For a basic quality control station, a minimum configuration is available which does not require a microcomputer or external software. All control functions and processing are accomplished within the microcontroller of the HG-600 Control Unit, and output at the end of a measurement consists of numerical values for Br, Hci and BHmax. The full measured B,H curve is stored in the memory of the Control Unit and the data points can be reviewed using the control wheel. Output is user-selectable between SI and cgs unit systems.

For a fully-featured hysteresigraph, a microcomputer system and HG-600 User Interface Program are added. The computer is built into the attractive, floor-standing 19" rack cabinet, making for a small footprint and better protection of the system hardware from ambient conditions. Forced air ventilation is standard; air conditioning for the enclosure is available. Software is written in C++ running under Windows95/98. All inputs are entered at the keyboard, full graphical display is available, and measured curves can be printed singly or up to 14 on one set of axes, in full color. The data and setup files are saved in standard (non-proprietary) ASCII format on the system hard drive.

System calibration is certified traceable to the United States National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) / National Bureau of Standards (NBS). Any specific measurement can be certified against a search coil/fluxmeter combination (volt-second calibration), a nickel standard (reference material), or any other type of permanent magnet (master magnet).

All systems include a one year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. KJS Associates/Magnetic Instrumentation provides factory training and service throughout the world.
